Who is the Caring for Carers support service for?
CFC is for unpaid family carers who feel they need something for themselves e.g. time out from their caring responsibilities, or wanting to connect with others who are in a similar situation, or who need information to help them in their situation as carer.
How do I access the service?
You can call or e-mail our co-ordinators Gisborne 06 868 1399 or Hawkes Bay 06 877 8193 ext 730 or just come along to one of our monthly meetings to check out whether this meets your needs.
Register to the CfC data base to receive a quarterly newsletter from the Hawkes Bay co-ordinator with relevant information about the service, meeting dates, topics for meetings, and the community.
Do I need a referral or do I need to qualify in some way to have access to CfC?
No, you can access us directly if you are an unpaid family carer and feel a need for information or support for your care giving role.
Is there a cost involved?
No, all parts of our service are free.
Can I talk to someone if I feel stressed or don’t know how to deal with a particular situation?
Yes, you can call our co-ordinator between 9 - 3pm on 06 877 8193 ext 730. In case we are unavailable, leave a message and we will call you back as soon as possible.
Can you help if I need support with my loved one at home?
CfC doesn’t offer home help or help with personal care for your loved one, but we can help you get information or help you get in touch with the appropriate channels.
Do you help carers financially?
No, but we can help you with finding out whether you are entitled to any benefits as a carer.
Do you run courses for carers on topics to do with their care giving role?
We bring in speakers, offer educational sessions or activities depending on carers’ needs and interest.
