This website is for family carers who are providing care to an adult or child in their family with a serious illness, learning disorder or disability.

Anyone can suddenly become a carer at any time, “out of the blue”.
There is no training for this or preparedness for the impact on personal, family and work life.

 We want this website to:

• help you deal with the everyday challenges as a family carer
• provide you with resources and information relevant to your experience
• support you with your personal health and wellbeing
• encourage you in your care-giving role.

We appreciate your input and contributions to the site, so we can build a meaningful resource for all carers in Hawke’s Bay and in New Zealand.

Presbyterian Support East Coast (PSEC) has responded to carers' needs by funding and developing the Caring for Carers Service across the East Coast region and for all our services.

This website is one of several ways we can support you in your role as carer as well as assist you with your health and wellbeing:

  • one on one support by our co-ordinator
  • monthly carer get to gethers
  • monthly newsletters to carers
  • carer wellbeing courses
  • phone and e-mail contact
  • annual carers’ pamper day

Don’t stay isolated and lonely in your caring role.

Contact us if you need:
quality ‘me time’
• a change of scenery
• more colour in your life
• or you want to talk to other carers who understand your situation

Please check out this website for information, inspiration and
